HARRY GREENE
saxophonist - guitarist - arranger - composer
Multi-instrumentalist Harry Greene has firmly cemented himself as a masterful Musical Director, arranger, and sideman. As a jazz bandleader, his own projects have enjoyed sell-out performances at a variety of top UK and European venues.
An in-demand guitarist and saxophonist, Harry has shared the stage with artists such as Mica Paris, Cory Wong, PBUG, Mo Pleasure (Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire), Marva King and Rumer. Harry has also collaborated with a number of leading names including KT Tunstall, Matt Lucas, and Kaiser Chiefs front-man Ricky Wilson as part of a 13-week Sky TV series featuring UK boogie-woogie sensation Tom Seals.
His current roster includes being regular support for sensational award-winning vocalist Jo Harrop, internationally renowned singer-pianist Jeremy Sassoon and rising-star RnB artist Stefan Mahendra. A popular new creative project is Blues and Greene (with Chris Ingham) - exploring the mystical territory where the blues meets jazz. Harry’s big band collaboration with singer Ashton Jones ‘Funk Soul Orchestral: James Brown vs Prince’ recently wowed packed houses at Ronnie Scott’s and regional venues.
Aside from his performing and touring career which has seen him travel extensively, Harry is also a highly regarded writer and arranger. He’s had numerous compositions on prime-time television programmes, covering a wide variety of genres from Big Band to Afrobeat. VS Funk/Soul Orchestral
I've a new project with UK funk sensation Ashton Jones, four sell out shows so far including Ronnie Scott's and the Stables MK. "Led with a mix of panache, never ending energy and passion by frontman Ashton Jones and astutely marshalled by guitarist Harry Greene, this almighty collection of gifted musicians had the sell-out audience off their feet well before the end." Workshop education
I have co-led week-long residencies at Aldeburgh Young Musicians, a musical Centre of Excellence at Snape Maltings. These have involved coaching large groups of mixed age and ability pupils, focusing on developing their improvisational and ensemble playing skills. These courses have culminated in hour-long performances, where the students have performed material from memory they have composed themselves throughout the week.
“Harry Greene is an outstanding musician, collaborator and educator. His creative approach to music making has led to him being a consistent top choice when selecting musicians to work with our Aldeburgh Young Musicians. As an alumnus of Aldeburgh Young Musicians, when he returns now as a professional to work alongside the aspiring young musicians, they find him approachable, inspirational and fun.”
“Harry is a rare example of someone who possesses exceptional talent and musicality as well as a warm and friendly personality with a strong commitment to his work.”
Stacey Kurtz Campkin - Head of Aldeburgh Young Musicians
“Everyone has had the time of their lives this week, with almost everyone saying it's the best musical experience they've ever had….they have really shown us the potential we all have!”
Connor Hargreaves – AYM student
“Harry’s enthusiasm is infectious…he’ll always go the extra mile. There is a good reason why he is creating quite a stir in the music business.”
